Crowned Through Humility
My dear friend, today God is going to give you great gifts. He is the best gift giver in this world! Let’s find out what He promises in Psalm 149:4: “For the Lord delights in His people. He crowns the humble with victory.” The Lord loves humble people, because God is displayed only in our humility. He hates the arrogant, the proud, the prideful, and He does not want to associate Himself with such prideful people because pride doesn’t represent the character of God. Those who are humble in every situation, who are patient, who control their tongue and control their actions, may seem like they’re losing in this world. Yes, it may look like a losing argument when we keep silent or hold our anger in check. But in God’s eyes, it is true victory, because He crowns the humble with victory.
Let me share something I witnessed during a ministry trip. While I was going to a city to minister, I was at the airport for a security check. They asked everyone to place all their belongings, like bags, watches, belts and wallets, onto the scanning belt. I placed my items and began observing others. One person was trying to place all their belongings on the belt carefully. But others were rushing in, barging past him, and putting their things ahead, even though they were behind him in line. I watched closely to see how this person would react.
To my amazement, this person remained so patient. He didn’t say a word against them. He didn’t protest, didn’t say, “I was first! How dare you?” He simply allowed everyone else to go ahead. But the security guard was watching this scene too. Suddenly, he came forward, stopped everyone else’s items, and personally took this man’s belongings, placing them first on the belt. Then he told everyone else to go back, and royally brought this humble man to the front of the line. Yes, my friend, the humble are rewarded by the Lord with victory. God is watching how we guard ourselves in humility, in big and small situations. He is waiting to give us His victory, His reward. Indeed, He crowns the humble with victory.
PRAYER:
Dear Lord, I thank You that You delight in Your people. Crown me with the victory that comes through humility. Help me to be patient and gentle in every situation. Teach me to control my tongue and guard my actions. Let my life reflect the character and nature of Jesus. Strip me of all pride and make me walk in lowliness. Let Your reward and favour follow me as I commit to walk in humility. In every season, may You delight in me, Lord. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
